Hi,

I’m Cory, a fiction writer. My debut story, “Smith,” published in The Common, won the 2026 PEN/Dau Short Story Prize for Emerging Writers. My second short story, “Ana,” won the 2026 DISQUIET Grand Prize. I’m in the first year of my MFA at UMich’s Helen Zell Writers’ Program and am writing a coming-of-age novel about disasters and masculinity.

I’m also a partner at The Environmental Storytelling Studio and a reader for the Mediterranean Arts Project. I enjoy climbing, backpacking, kayaking, and cycling.
